What is the Sandbaai Community Safety Initiative?
The Sandbaai CSI represents a collaborative effort among all relevant stakeholders dedicated to enhancing safety in Sandbaai. CSI stands for Sandbaai Community Safety Initiative.
The initiative is overseen by the current stakeholders who expressed their support during a meeting organized by the Sandbaai Forum on September 5th, 2023. It's important to note that this initiative is not a new entity seeking to replace or compete with existing responder groups. Rather, it is a collaborative initiative aimed at addressing deficiencies in the current approach to tackling crime in Sandbaai.
How does it work?
To enhance results by reducing response times, we have implemented two WhatsApp communication groups. The Blue Spotter group serves as the primary channel for sharing information about suspicious activities or individuals, while the Red Help group is dedicated to reporting active or real-time threats, such as a crime in progress.
We believe that this is a significant upgrade because the current system involves residents posting messages that are then forwarded across a network of approximately 13 groups comprising various responder teams and security companies. This process can lead to significant delays in their collective ability to respond effectively, ultimately impeding their efforts to combat crime.
How do I get access to these two important groups?
To add yourself to these groups, it's important to register as a resident of Sandbaai. Once you have completed your registration, you will be redirected to the Community Safety Page, where you will find the links. Simply click on them to join both the Red and Blue Safety groups.
Why do I need to Register?
Safety is a paramount concern within our Sandbaai Community, and to ensure that individuals with questionable intentions do not gain access to our safety groups, we need to exercise some control over the dissemination of certain information. Consequently, registration is a prerequisite for joining these groups, a measure taken primarily for your own safety and in the near future (if you want to make use of it) other benefits.
